ENT & Allergy of Delaware is made up of a team of professionals dedicated to providing the best quality healthcare in a responsive and caring environment. Our otolaryngologists are all Board certified with decades of experience in the profession. They work in concert with nurses and office staff who try to understand your health issues quickly and apply the right treatment to get you back to your optimal health.
Dr. Joan Coker, head and neck surgeon and Delaware native has returned home. Dr. Coker is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist having graduated from the Medical College of Ohio, and completed her residency in Otolaryngology at the King / Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles. Following completion of residency, she attended Stanford University where she completed a fellowship in the surgical management of obstructive sleep apnea under the guidance of Dr. Nelson Powell, Robert Riley and Richard Goode.
Dr. Coker holds membership in the Medical Society of Delaware, The American Academy of Otolaryngology, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She enjoys mentoring students, and currently serves as Board President of The Kuumba Academy Charter School in Wilmington, Delaware.
Dr. Kieran Connolly is a board certified Otolaryngologist, who has been in practice in Delaware since 2001. He sees patients for general ear, nose and throat complaints, but has a special interest in voice disorders. He is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha and Hobart Amory Hare medical honor societies. He completed his residency in Wake Forest University – Baptist Medical Center. He is a Delaware native and lives locally with his wife and three children.
Dr. Timoteo R. Gabriel Jr. is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon who has been in active practice in the Wilmington area for the past 29 years. He started as a solo practitioner in 1982 and is now proud to be part of a newly formed specialty group - ENT & Allergy of Delaware, LLC. He believes that this group will provide the most advanced and best possible ENT care in this area and will render this care in an ethical and compassionate manner. Dr. Gabriel aims to continue providing excellent general otolaryngology service to his patients. He loves his work and is good at it. He currently lives happily with his wife, Telly, in Hockessin, Delaware. They have 3 children and are expecting a grandchild soon.
Dr. Gregg Goldstein is a board certified Otolaryngologist and fellowship trained Sinus and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgeon. After graduating from Princeton University and Jefferson Medical College, he completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a Rhinology and Skull Base fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he served as clinical instructor under the guidance of Drs. David Kennedy, James Palmer, and Bert O’Malley.
Dr. Goldstein’s specialized training emphasizes minimally invasive options for the management of medically refractory chronic sinusitis and cranial base tumors. He has particular interest in the management of allergic rhinitis, allergic fungal sinusitis, nasal polyps, tear duct blockage, snoring, taste and smell disorders, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks and encephaloceles, papillomas, mucoceles, pituitary tumors and other benign and malignant tumors affecting the skull base.
Dr. Goldstein is committed to providing only the highest quality patient care with a focus on state of the art treatments for complex inflammatory disorders and tumors of the sinonasal tract. He has presented at the national and local level and has published numerous articles and chapters in the Otolaryngology literature.
Dr. Goldstein is a native of the Philadelphia suburbs. He and his wife Jenny are the proud parents of a new baby girl.
Dr. Neil Hockstein is a board certified Otolaryngologist - Head and Neck Surgeon. Dr. Hockstein cares for patients with diseases of the Ears, Nose, and Throat with particular focus on treatment of nasal and sinus problems and surgery on the head and neck including: thyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, and head and neck cancer. Dr. Hockstein received his undergraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University. He graduated with honors from Jefferson Medical College and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and the Hobart Amory Hare honor medical society. He completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Resident. He was awarded the residency research prize and the Philadelphia College of Physicians Research Prize. Dr. Hockstein returned to his home town of Wilmington in 2005 to practice with his current partners at ENT and Allergy of Delaware.
Dr. Hockstein is an attending physician at Christiana Care and is a participating surgeon and member of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Team. Dr. Hockstein has published over 25 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and numerous book chapters. He has lectured across the country on the treatment of sinus disease and head and neck cancer.
Dr. Hockstein is an avid runner and triathlete. He lives in Wilmington with his wife Carolyn, and his two children, Leia and Aaron.

Dr. Paul Imber has been privileged to practice Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery in New Castle County, Delaware since July, 1982. He is pleased to join his new partners, all well-established and respected members of the medical community, in the formation of ENT & Allergy of Delaware, LLC. Together, they hope to advance the quality of ENT care and enhance the patient experience when engaging in the services provided. Dr. Imber has been a long proponent of active, hands-on physician management of the medical practice, maintaining a close and open connection with all of the excellent staff. He feels the staff, from the receptionist answering the first call to the audiologists and allergy technicians are an extension of the doctors. It is their helpful interactions with patients that enhance the satisfaction and quality of the patient’s overall interaction.
Dr. Imber approaches his patients with a warm, caring manner. He tries to listen to his patients, and sees most encounters as an opportunity to teach and educate. He explains planned surgeries including the anticipated post operative course as well as potential complications, and he encourages pre operative visits to answer any questions.
Dr. Imber is Vice- Chair of the Department of ENT at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He lectures several times a year to the students. He often has medical students and residents training with him, and he informs the patient as he educates his trainees. He recognizes his responsibility to share his clinical experiences, as well as academic discussions with young physicians, and hopes that they learn as much from him as he does from them.
Dr. Imber has been active in the medical community both locally and nationally. He is Section Chief of Otolaryngology of the Christiana Care Healthcare System, and is President of the Delaware Academy of Otolaryngology. A review of his Curriculum Vitae, available on this website, reveals his past and current involvement with organized medicine. He believes it is important to take a leadership role, and visits Washington, DC several times a year for legislative education and interaction. He volunteers his time in the hope of achieving a better local and national environment for the practice of medicine.
Dr. Imber lives in Chadds Ford, PA with his wife. They have three grown children, and many pets. They enjoy the Jersey shore for relaxation.
Dr. Sheppard has been practicing in Wilmington, DE since 2002. He is a board certified Otolaryngologist/ Head and Neck Surgeon and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. His practice includes medical and surgical management of ear, nose, and throat disorders of pediatric and adult patients.
Originally from South Carolina, he graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University in 1993. He graduated with honors from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1997. While at MUSC, he was awarded membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, served as President of the Honor Council, and was elected class President during his 3rd and 4th years. In 2002, Dr. Sheppard completed his residency at SUNY- Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. There, he was named Surgical Intern of the Year, served as Chief Resident and published research on Meniere’s disease.
Dr. Sheppard has privileges at the major hospitals in New Castle County, including Christiana Care Health Systems, St. Francis Hospital, and A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital. He provides lectures on a range of ENT topics to practicing physicians, residents, medical students, and the general public. He feels fortunate to practice in this medical community and be part of ENT and Allergy of Delaware.
Dr. Sheppard enjoys living in Wilmington with his wife, their three sons, two dogs, some fish, and a reptile.
Michael Teixido is an otolaryngologist with a special interest in medical and surgical conditions that affect hearing and balance. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware and developed an interest in ear surgery because of a hereditary hearing condition in his family. He actively pursues his goals to advance the study and understanding of problems involving hearing, balance and general otolaryngology through his participation in many national professional organizations and frequent lectures to his professional colleagues and the public.
Dr. Teixido holds a faculty appointment at the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of Jefferson Medical College. He is also the Director of the Balance and Mobility Center of Christiana Care, and the Director of The Delaware Otologic Medicine and Surgery Fellowship. He teaches regularly at the departments of Otolaryngology at Jefferson Medical College, University of Pennsylvania, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as nationally and internationally.
